WYFH offers four seasons to play.  

 

Spring Season 

• Generally starts in April and ends in early June.

• Skills & Scrimmages* for Grades 1-4, in-house league

• League Play for Grades 5-8, visiting teams to come play Wellesley teams. 

• Fundamental & Specialized stick skills clinics 

• All practices and games are held in Wellesley. 

 

* These are called instructional scrimmages since we have players learn and practice an offensive and defensive skill and there are stops in play to help players learn how the game is played.

Summer Skills & Conditioning

• Generally starts in July and ends in August.

• We offer skills & conditioning clinics including pre-season clinics for WHS tryouts. 

• When there is enough interest, we will also run a summer league similar to our spring league.  

• All practices and games are held in Wellesley.

Fall Season

WYFH plays in the Commonwealth Field Hockey League. 

• Generally, early September through early November, generally does not include Columbus Day weekend.

• WYFC rosters balanced skill level teams in the following grade divisions: 

  • 3/4 Grade​ (8v8 play, smaller field size) 

  • 5/6 Grade (full teams, 11v11, full field) 

  • 7/8 Grade (full teams, 11 v11, full field) 

• Each season, we will open up registration in May with an end of June deadline to correlated with team registration deadlines to the league.  Please register timely so we can register the proper # of teams.

Winter Season

• Generally starts in November and ends in March.

• We offer skills and conditioning clinics. 

• Indoor turf field (or indoor hard surface space) in Wellesley for practices, depending on availability. 

• For indoor league play, teams are rostered and play in locations outside of Wellesley (could require 30 min. or more travel time) on weekday evenings.

Ideally, we try to find as many opportunities for our girls to play as long as there is interest.
